Profile

Funsho Kupolokun holds a first-class degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lagos where he studied as a Shell scholar. Engr. Kupolokun also holds an honorary Doctorate Degree from the University of Agriculture, Makurdi.

Engr. Kupolokun had a brief stint with Shell BP before joining the Nigeria National Oil Corporation now the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). He occupied various strategic roles within NNPC, including Head of Special Projects in the NNPC JV, Head of Petroleum Engineering Department, Group General Manager, and Head of NNPC’s London office. In 1990, he was double promoted from Manager to Group General Manager and in 1992 he was appointed Group Executive Director, Commercial & Investment, making him the youngest person to serve on the NNPC Group Board.

Engr. Kupolokun was appointed Special Assistant to the President on Petroleum Matters in 1999 and soon thereafter returned to NNPC as Group Managing Director, appointed to help drive the reform of the oil & gas sector. He was Chairman of Nigeria LNG and serves on the Board of a number of other strategic businesses in the oil & gas and non-oil sectors.
